Breaking Free from the Cycle of Chronic Back Pain with a New Treatment Option

ออกจากลูปปวดหลังเรื้อรัง กับ ทางเลือกใหม่ในการรักษา

Chronic back pain is a problem that many people face and is often caused by various factors, such as sitting for long periods, lifting heavy objects, or injuries. Although back pain may seem like a common issue, if not treated correctly, it can lead to serious health problems. Some patients continuously take painkillers and anti-inflammatory medications, which may lead to stomach ulcers or kidney failure. Others endure physical therapy that leaves their bodies sore, but the pain still doesn’t go away. As a result, their physical and mental health deteriorates to the point where they can no longer carry out daily activities. In some cases, improper spinal manipulation can lead to misalignment of the vertebrae.

This is why finding the right and effective treatment method is absolutely essential.

Accurate diagnosis is the key to treating chronic back pain. At S Spine Hospital, we have the only standing MRI machine in Thailand, which greatly enhances the accuracy of diagnosis. This MRI machine allows for a detailed examination of the spine and nerves, helping to identify the true cause of back pain, such as herniated discs pressing on nerves, spinal stenosis, or spondylolisthesis.

Diagnosing chronic back pain requires the use of both X-ray and MRI machines. The X-ray provides clear images of the spine, especially in cases of fractures, breaks, collapses, or dislocations of the bones. It helps doctors identify the cause of back pain, such as abnormalities in the bones or joints. However, X-ray has limitations in visualizing soft tissues, which is why MRI is also used. The MRI allows for a detailed examination of soft tissues, such as intervertebral discs and nerves, providing a more comprehensive and accurate diagnosis.

Using both X-ray and MRI together allows doctors to get a complete picture of the problem, enabling them to develop an accurate and effective treatment plan.

omprehensive Treatment with MIS Spine Technique

A New Option for Chronic Back Pain Relief

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MIS Spine) is the only comprehensive treatment technique available in Thailand, utilizing modern technology to reduce injury and speed up the patient’s recovery. The MIS Spine treatment consists of:

1. Laser Treatment: This technology is used to treat herniated and mildly degenerated intervertebral discs. It helps reduce pain and minimizes the risk of complications. The incision is only 0.1 cm in size, comparable to a needle.

2. Endoscopic Spine Surgery on the Back Using the PSLD Technique: This procedure addresses back pain caused by herniated discs and spinal stenosis compressing the nerves. It eliminates the need for large incisions, leading to faster recovery. The incision is just 0.5 cm.

3. Endoscopic Spine Surgery on the Neck Using the PSCD Technique: This method is used to treat cervical disc herniation compressing the nerves. It avoids large incisions, ensuring quicker recovery and reduced post-surgical pain. The incision is only 0.5 cm in size.

4. Treatment for Spinal Displacement Compressing Nerves Using the Full Endo TLIF Technique: This technology addresses lumbar spondylolisthesis by fusing the lumbar vertebrae with an endoscopic approach. It results in smaller incisions and eliminates the need for blood transfusions. Patients can recover quickly and return home in a short time. The incision is approximately 1 cm, about the size of a screw head.

5. Treatment for Anterior Cervical Disc Herniation Compressing Nerves Using the Endo ACDF Technique: This technique treats cervical disc herniation from the anterior side by fusing the cervical vertebrae through a small incision measuring 1–2 cm, roughly the size of an artificial disc.

6. Cement Injections for Treating Spinal Fractures, Collapses, or Compression: Cement injections help reinforce spinal strength, reduce pain, and lower the risk of recurring injuries. The incision is as small as a needle.

กThese treatment techniques allow patients to return to their daily lives quickly, as the small size of the surgical incision promotes faster recovery.

Ms. Paphada, one of the patients treated at S Spine Hospital, shared her experience:
